Websites need to make changes too
The Web has changed and is changing every day Our own personal experience on the Web stretches back for 15 years, before the times of Google or Yahoo when ALTAVISTA was the only Search Engine around. During this time we have learned if nothing else, that the Web is a very fast moving place racing along at a speed which can make your eyes water. All the time we are confronted with new services, technologies and products and if we don't want to be left behind we need to learn to do things in many new and different ways. Changes which took place over a short period In 2006 most people had as their default Browser Internet Explorer and their Home Page was most likely MSN.com. Today 56% of Internet users have Firefox as their preferred Browser and hundreds of different Home Page options to chose from. In 2005 when we wanted to watch a video we downloaded Real Player. Today we use YouTube or Google Video. If we wanted to find facts on the Internet in 2004 we went to a site called Encarta. Today we look up Wikipedia. In 2003 we made friends on the Internet using a site which was called Friendster. Today everybody uses MySpace In 2002 we started to browse lots of new sites on the Internet getting the latest information. Today we use RSS Feeds for news and read Blogs. In 2001 we started to use Google Image Search when we were looking for images. Today we use and look for Tags on Flickr. In the year 2000 it was all about YAHOO today it is all about GOOGLE. In 1998 we started to use Outlook Express when we wanted to read our E-mail. Today Outlook Express is an old hat. Today we read our mail on the web using web mail based email clients. In 1997 we played games on the Internet; something like Acrophobia. Today people use XBOX, PlayStation and Playseat. In 1996, 14 years ago, people focused on GeoCities when they wanted to form groups and communities. Today we use Twitter and other Social Networking Sites and the Blog sphere. The Moral of the story is that most sites have changed, the web has changed and it is constantly changing. We all have been forced to change with the times. Making changes is a vital part of surviving in a time where more and more people using the Internet, looking for information, and to buy services and products not only online, but to see which of their local traders has an interesting web presence, providing the products and services they want, all of them potential customers. They all make buying decisions based on what they find on the net.
