We all have seen it when we are browsing the web and we want to have a look at a site and all we see is a notice informing us: COMING SOON

The idea is to inform visitors that there will be soon a new site which (hopefully) is of interest and offers something really great. This idea comes from the notice we all see at shops on the high street telling people that they open soon. Does it work in the same way on the web? No it does not. People are not interested what will come soon, or when the site is ready. They could not care less. They are only interested what they can see now.  They are not interested in what they may see in the future. Coming soon will not encourage anybody to come back to a site.
All sites available on this planet are the same distance away from the user “1 CLICK” that’s all. They don’t have to wait until a site is ready for them to see. They click on the next site and they get what they want. It’s that simple. They won’t even remember to go back. People are not interested what a site may offer later on. They can find sites in a blink of the eye showing them what’s coming soon. And where they can see already what it is which is coming soon.

Under Construction

This must be one of the most useless notices around. All this will tell the visitor that there is a site which has been started and which is not been finished. What good is that? Is it interesting to the site visitor? Does it do anybody any good? All it says is “Sorry we have not finished the job”

How many people would go through the trouble when browsing the Internet on the lookout for something they want to find if the all of a sudden come across a website asking them to change their browser setting just because the website owner thinks that his site looks better in a particular resolution ? Exactly, nobody will change their browser setting. It only distracts the user and it is very likely that they will leave the site in a hurry and go to the next one.
If you have made the mistake by creating a website which is best to be views with a particular technology don’t tell anyone and hope for the best that not too many people will see your site.

If your website looks better in a particular resolution than that is fine as long it is also functioning in other settings and in any browser. If you website displays well in Internet explorer 7 and 8 but not in the older Internet Explorer 6 or in Firefox you will loose site visitors. Too many websites are being placed on the Internet without making sure, that the site renders in all common and not so common browsers. If you do not make sure that your site is displaying correctly in most common browsers you will loose visitors and business.

Requires Flash

That one is the worst of them all If you use Flash or allow your web designer to use Flash you will loos a large segment of potential site visitors who will never see your site, because they either have no Flash Player installed or they cant be bothered to wait until the site is loading. Please remember, that there are still Millions of Internet users out there who do not have fast internet connections.

Flash cannot be read by Search Engines, not unless the Flash files have been altered and manipulated. 99% of all Web sites made in Flash or have Flash Elements included as part of the design have problems in a number of different areas related to site visibility.
There is no doubt, that flash has its rightful place in web design if used correctly. It is an excellent way to cut down on Bandwidth. But it can never be a substitute for other forms of imaging resources for a website including HTML
